Clinical Hypnosis
Clinical Hypnosis is a safe, natural, and highly effective way of using focused attention and deep relaxation to create positive change in thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Unlike the stage hypnosis many people may have seen, clinical hypnosis is a therapeutic process, designed to help you access the subconscious mind — the place where habits, memories, and core beliefs are stored.
The modern practice of hypnosis has its roots in the 18th century with the work of Franz Mesmer and was later developed by physicians and psychologists such as James Braid, Milton Erickson, and others who explored the power of suggestion and trance states for healing. Today, clinical hypnosis is supported by neuroscience, showing that hypnotic states can alter brain activity, calm the nervous system, and make the mind more receptive to positive change.
During hypnosis, you remain fully aware and in control, while experiencing a state of deep relaxation — similar to daydreaming or being absorbed in a good book. In this state, the critical, conscious mind becomes quieter, allowing therapeutic suggestions and guided imagery to take root more easily.
What Clinical Hypnosis is used for:
- Reducing stress and anxiety
- Overcoming fears and phobias
- Improving sleep and relaxation
- Supporting pain management
- Changing habits (such as smoking or overeating)
- Boosting confidence and motivation
- Enhancing focus and performance
- Promoting emotional healing and resilience
I often combine Clinical Hypnosis with other approaches such as NLP, EFT, Havening, Sound Healing, and Reiki. This integrative style allows each session to be tailored to your individual needs, creating powerful opportunities for growth and transformation.
